Generating Art using AI

There are several AI tools on the market for creating videos, art and content.  As part of a project I am working on (website) I wanted to find illustrations and vectors of teenagers (Generation Z, namely) working.  There is the option of purchasing vectors or illustrations using iStock (and others) but I could not find anything that really matched what I am looking for and I could hire a designer using Fiverr (or others), designers I know (but that can be expensive) which I am not quite ready to do.  One reason is cost, but the core reason is that I was not sure what I wanted and finding a designer that you trust is challenging.

Jasper AI for Art

I have a license to Jasper AI and have used it to draft content, edit and sometimes to just see what Jasper would come up with and compare it to my original content. I essentially treat Jasper AI as a writing assistant. 

I noticed that Jasper AI has a new feature in beta, Art, to create art, so I thought I’d try it and see how it works out. 

My Experience

First I tried the prompts (several) under Free Form.  I typed in what I wanted and Jasper, if you’d like, will make modifications to your prompt.  Which is interesting and if you are willing you should see what Jasper comes up with. 

• The photogenic images came out strange missing faces even a three-legged teen
• The vector images and illustrations were better after I uploaded an example (see blog image)
• Using the template, I typed in the prompt teen ager (generation z) working in the yard and I got grown men working in the yard, so that did not work.

(Still have not figured out how to add images to the blog, ugh 🤦‍♀️ 😩 😣 )

Would I recommend Jasper AI for Art?  I think it's based on your use case and what you're trying to achieve.  I enjoy playing around with the tools and then sharing my experience.  I do think it's good to flush out your thoughts and ideas for what you want to present to a designer.

Currently, I pay 59.00 a month for Jasper AI, and I am not entirely sure that I use it enough to justify the cost.  But, I'm not ready to give it up yet.  I use it to build draft content, I've even used it to test my writing for work to see if I can improve my wording choice.  To date, I use it to assist, but overall I still prefer my own raw content. 

But, it is all about the prompts for both writing and art.

Adding Art was free for five days (so I am trying it) but it will be an additional 20.00 per month.  We'll see, but it's likely I will cancel if I remember.

Visual Content

For writers and content producers of any kind design is a key component of elevating messages—from the website, blogs, social media, etc ... so having an AI tool to help supplement design (for non-designers) is a huge win.  Most of the time content creators know the essence of what they want, they just don't have the skills to design.

For now, I'd say I am not going to add Jasper AI's Art feature for $20.00 a month.
